2025 Emmy Nominations: Severance, The Penguin, The Last of Us Lead the Pack

The 77th Emmy Awards nominations have been revealed, showcasing a highly competitive slate of nominees. Major shows like Severance, The Penguin, The Last of Us, and Andor are set to dominate the awards ceremony this September.

Announced in a livestream by actors Harvey Guillén and Brenda Song, the nominations have left fans buzzing with excitement for the big night.

Severance leads the pack with an impressive 27 nominations, including nods for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Casting, and Outstanding Directing. Its return to the spotlight has everyone talking, but it faces stiff competition, particularly from The White Lotus with 23 nominations, The Last of Us at 16, and Andor with 14.

The Comedy categories are no less thrilling, with Apple’s The Studio making a huge impact with 23 nominations, and The Bear continuing to impress with 13 nominations. It will go head-to-head with shows like Hacks (14 nominations) and Shrinking (9 nominations).

In the Limited or Anthology Series category, both The Penguin and Adolescence have earned praise, with The Penguin taking 24 nominations. Meanwhile, Shrinking is making headlines not only for its success but also for marking Harrison Ford’s first-ever Emmy nomination at 83. Ford is up for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, competing against Michael Urie, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and others.

The nominations have sparked some debates, with fans disappointed over notable snubs, like Kathryn Hahn’s absence for her role in Agatha All Along, and the omission of key Andor cast members like Diego Luna and Stellan Skarsgård. Meanwhile, Netflix’s Squid Game has been shut out completely.

The excitement around the 77th Emmy Awards is palpable as fans and critics alike eagerly await September’s ceremony. With standout shows in both drama and comedy, this year’s Emmys promise to be unforgettable.
