The long-awaited 3dSen NES Emulator 1.0 has officially left early access after 10 years of development, and it’s now available for purchase on Steam. This emulator is a labor of love, designed to reimagine classic NES games by transforming them from their original 2D sprites into playable 3D voxel dioramas.
The 1.0 release brings significant improvements, including real-time lighting, dynamic shadows, and animated skyboxes that add a fresh layer of immersion to iconic NES titles.
While the emulator doesn’t support every NES game just yet, it currently offers 100+ games, including fan favorites like the Super Mario Bros. series, Contra, Metroid, Zelda, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Duck Hunt, Mega Man, and Castlevania. And the list continues to grow, with the community contributing by creating custom game profiles through 3dSenMaker.
