Honor is gearing up to make waves in the foldable phone market again. The upcoming Honor Magic V5 has just appeared on Geekbench, revealing a few key details that give us a glimpse of what’s to come.

Most notably, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 ‘Leading Version’ – a souped-up variant of the chip with prime cores clocked at an impressive 4.47GHz, slightly faster than the standard version’s 4.32GHz.

The model number spotted on Geekbench is MHG-AN00, associated with the Magic V5, which scored solid numbers in Geekbench 6.4.0. It’s worth noting that another variant, the MBH-AN10, was recently certified by China’s CMIIT and confirmed to pack a large 6,100mAh battery. That’s a generous capacity, especially in the foldable segment.

What really caught attention is Honor’s bold claim – the Magic V5 will be the “thinnest and lightest foldable phone” on the market. While exact measurements are still under wraps, insiders are already comparing it to devices like the Vivo X Fold 5, which weighs just 219g. Will Honor be able to beat that? The competition is fierce, and users are rightfully skeptical, yet hopeful.

The benchmarked model also includes 16GB of RAM and runs Android 15, making it one of the first foldables ready for Google’s latest OS. The official release is expected later this month, though Honor has yet to pin down a launch date.

Users have high hopes for features like robust water resistance (IPX8 or even IPX9), 10x optical and 100x digital zoom, and advanced video capabilities like 7680fps slow-motion – some admittedly wishlist-level specs, but not entirely out of reach for a brand that’s been pushing boundaries lately.

Stay tuned. With the Snapdragon 8 Leading Version under the hood and a promise of ultra-portability, the Magic V5 might just redefine what a foldable flagship can be.

If this phone has even IPX8 *and* 10x zoom, it’s an instant buy. 100x zoom and slowmo would just be 🤯
