Lava is stepping up its smartphone game with the upcoming launch of two new models: the Lava Storm Play and the Lava Storm Lite. While Lava made waves in late 2023 with the Dimensity 6080-powered Lava Storm, the company is now gearing up to introduce the Storm Play – India’s first smartphone featuring the MediaTek Dimensity 7060 chipset. Aimed squarely at mobile gaming enthusiasts, the device promises cutting-edge performance packed with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, a combination typically seen in much higher-end phones.
Though Lava hasn’t revealed all the specifications yet, the company has confirmed that both the Storm Play and the more affordable Storm Lite will be sold via Lava’s official website and Amazon.in. The Storm Lite, while positioned as the budget-friendly sibling, isn’t skimping on specs. According to leaks, it will come equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 7025 chipset, 6GB of RAM (despite some promo images hinting at 8GB), 128GB of storage, and a sizable 6.78-inch 120Hz HD+ LCD – making it a solid choice for users who want smooth visuals on a budget.
Interestingly, this move is part of Lava’s broader push to cater to a younger, more tech-savvy audience, especially mobile gamers and power users who demand more for less. However, some users have raised concerns about Lava’s software security history. Recent CVEs (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) like CVE-2024-13915, CVE-2024-13916, and CVE-2024-13917 have highlighted potential flaws in some of their devices, a point that Lava will need to address to build trust as it ventures further into the performance-first market segment.
While exact pricing and availability are still under wraps, industry insiders expect both models to maintain Lava’s value-for-money philosophy. Expect a full reveal in the coming weeks as Lava aims to disrupt the mid-range Android scene once again.
