New Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Rumored: What to Expect After Phantom Liberty

Cyberpunk 2077 May Get More DLC – But Don’t Expect Another Phantom Liberty

Despite its rocky launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has seen an impressive turnaround. With the release of Phantom Liberty in September 2023, CD Projekt RED managed to rebuild much of the trust it lost. The expansion was a commercial and critical success, with over 10 million units sold to date

. It brought a thrilling spy-thriller narrative, refined combat, a perk system overhaul, and much-needed improvements to vehicle combat and law enforcement mechanics.

Now, it seems the story might not end there.

According to the LinkedIn profile of a Senior Writer at Virtuos – the studio working on several high-profile remasters like Oblivion and Metal Gear Solid Delta – work is ongoing for new Cyberpunk 2077 side quests. The listing mentions writing dialogue for multiple new side quests, coordination with narrative designers, and polishing content for upcoming DLC. This suggests more content could be on the way.

But before fans get too excited, let’s set expectations straight: this upcoming DLC likely won’t be another massive expansion like Phantom Liberty. Based on the evidence, we’re probably looking at smaller-scale content – a collection of side missions, lore expansions, or even something tied to a potential follow-up anime like Edgerunners.

That said, many players still feel that foundational issues in the game – like the AI, driving mechanics, and NPC behavior – have gone unaddressed for too long. Driving is still clunky, AI reactions remain laughably unrealistic, and the police response system feels broken. As one seasoned player noted, “Even after 150 hours, it’s frustrating when random NPCs jump into traffic or when the cops appear out of nowhere after something happens behind closed doors.”

While CD Projekt RED may be moving on to The Witcher 4 and other projects, the passion from fans shows that Night City still has life – and demand – left in it. Hopefully, the studio recognizes that and gives players not just more missions, but also meaningful improvements to the game’s remaining rough edges.
