Code Vein II has officially been announced, and fans of stylish, challenging action RPGs have a lot to look forward to. Bandai Namco unveiled the sequel during this year’s Summer Game Fest with a slick new trailer that teased its moody post-apocalyptic world, new characters, and terrifying enemies.

The game is set for release in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

Returning to the grim, anime-inspired setting of the original, Code Vein II promises a darker and more refined journey through the ruins of humanity. While the trailer was brief, it made clear that the sequel will build on the blood-soaked foundation laid by its predecessor, with even more intense combat and twisted bosses that fans crave.

The original Code Vein, released in 2019, was a unique blend of Souls-like difficulty, over-the-top anime visuals, and a surprisingly deep buddy system. Despite some complaints about repetitive environments and clunky level layouts, the game’s character customization and frenetic combat drew in a devoted fanbase. Now, it seems Bandai Namco is doubling down on what worked, and hopefully refining what didn’t.

There’s no word yet on gameplay mechanics or whether the infamous ambush-heavy combat design will return in full force, but one thing is clear: Code Vein II is not for the faint of heart. For some, that’s part of the charm. For others, especially those hoping for an easier entry point, the lack of difficulty options remains a concern – something the developers have yet to address.

Still, Code Vein’s place as a cult favorite gives its sequel a real chance to shine. With the success of other tough-as-nails RPGs like Elden Ring and the revival of Dragon’s Dogma, there’s never been a better time for Code Vein II to step into the spotlight – as long as it balances challenge with accessibility.
