While this chip is still a powerful option, it’s not quite the flagship-grade powerhouse some were expecting.

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 offers solid performance, boasting one Cortex-X4 core at 3.2GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores at 3GHz, two Cortex-A720 cores at 2.8GHz, and two more at 2GHz. While this setup is no slouch, it lacks the advanced Oryon cores found in Qualcomm’s more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. So, while it’s not the fastest, it should still be a solid multitasker compared to last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which powered devices like the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

In terms of graphics, the 8s Gen 4 features an Adreno GPU with a new architecture, providing better efficiency and performance. It also boasts an NPU that’s 44% faster than the one in the previous-gen chip, making AI tasks quicker and smoother. However, despite these enhancements, it falls short of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, missing support for features like 8K video recording, 4K/120fps slow-motion capture, and mmWave 5G.

So, while the Nothing Phone (3) will still pack a punch with its Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, it won’t quite compete with the likes of the Galaxy S25 Ultra or iPhone 16 in terms of raw power and high-end features. But then again, not everyone needs 8K video or 5G speeds, right?
