The popular hardware monitoring tool AIDA64 Extreme has just received a major update with exciting new additions to its database. The latest release, version 7.99.7817, has brought support for a couple of noteworthy upcoming hardware components, including AMD’s Radeon RX 7400 GPU and Intel’s Battlemage ‘BMG-G31’ chip.

Let’s dive into these new entries and what they mean for the future of gaming and professional workstations.

First up, AIDA64 Extreme now supports the AMD Radeon RX 7400, an entry-level RDNA 3 GPU. While AMD hasn’t officially announced this GPU yet, rumors and previous reports have hinted at its impending release. The RX 7400 is expected to be based on AMD’s NAVI 33 die, and it will likely cater to budget-conscious gamers seeking solid performance without breaking the bank. It’s been about a year since we last heard about the RX 7000 series GPUs, with the RX 7400 being the latest in this lineup to be integrated into AIDA64’s support list. Also, there’s mention of another NAVI 33-based GPU, the Radeon PRO W7400, which is expected to be targeted at professional workstations.

Next, AIDA64 has added support for Intel’s upcoming Battlemage GPU, the BMG-G31. This chip is set to power the much-talked-about Arc B770, which promises impressive specs including 24-32 Xe2 cores and up to 16 GB of GDDR6 memory with a 256-bit memory bus. Intel has been gradually making strides in the GPU space, and the BMG-G31 marks a significant step in its Arc series. Additionally, this GPU will be the first of its kind to feature a PCIe 5.0 x16 interface, signaling a leap forward in performance and efficiency for the Arc B770.

But that’s not all! The update also introduces support for PCIe 7.0 controllers and devices. While PCIe 7.0 is still years away from being widely available (with testing expected to complete around 2027), it’s a promising sign of what’s to come. However, users shouldn’t expect to see PCIe 7.0 devices in the near future, as the market is still in the process of transitioning to PCIe 5.0 and 6.0. Even devices like SSDs won’t likely see PCIe 6.0 support before 2030.

So, while these updates are exciting, it’s important to note that the addition of hardware in AIDA64 doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll see it on the market anytime soon. Historically, GPUs added to AIDA64 typically take about a year before their official release. But with the RX 7400 and BMG-G31 possibly coming sooner, we could see them hit the market in the near future.
