Big news for fans of Godzilla and LEGO! The third round of 2024 LEGO Ideas reviews has officially wrapped up, and two fan-designed creations have been chosen to become real sets: a colossal Godzilla build and a Tintin Rocket. These sets were confirmed in a LEGO Ideas blog post, and the Godzilla set, originally submitted by fan MattE720 in December 2023, has made the cut.
While the exact design, pricing, and release date are still under wraps, this marks the first time ever that LEGO will release a Godzilla set, making it a monumental moment for collectors and fans alike.
The fan design won’t be an exact replica of what will hit the shelves, but it will serve as the foundation for the final product. With so many versions of Godzilla spanning countless films, MattE720’s design draws inspiration from the latest Godzilla blockbusters, such as Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, ensuring a modern take on the iconic monster.
Though we don’t have a precise piece count yet, early images suggest that the build will be massive, continuing LEGO’s tradition of releasing giant sets like their 3.5ft-long T. Rex. Since LEGO Ideas sets are often geared towards an adult audience, it’s safe to assume that this Godzilla set will be a sizable and detailed build for fans aged 18 and up.
Each LEGO Ideas set starts as a fan submission, and once it garners 10,000 supporters, it enters the review process, which can be lengthy. One of the major obstacles is securing the necessary rights to the intellectual property. This is why some fan designs are easier to bring to life than others, especially if LEGO can’t reach an agreement with the owners of popular franchises.
In addition to the Godzilla set, there are many other exciting LEGO Ideas in the review phase, including a Monsters, Inc. – Boo’s Door set, Planet Express Headquarters, and even the nostalgic Clippy from Microsoft Office.

They should release a Godzilla set for each of the 3 best Godzilla movies, the original, Shin Godzilla, and Godzilla Minus One
