Beavis and Butt-Head, the iconic duo from the 90s, are making their way to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone with the Season 04 Reloaded update. Players are having a blast at the absurdity of it all, joking that these characters might actually be more military-simulation (MilSim) than some of the existing skins in the game. 
This marks another bizarre collaboration in Call of Duty’s history of outlandish skins, which have included everything from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to bacon-themed characters.
Created by Mike Judge, Beavis and Butt-Head are the poster boys of the MTV generation. Their crude antics and love for rock music made them household names in the 90s. Their latest appearance in the franchise has sparked a lot of laughter among fans, but not just for their appearance. The real joke is how these cartoon characters are decked out in full MilSim gear, blending their cartoonish look with realistic military outfits.
“Of all the collabs to get military-themed outfits in this game, I definitely did not see Beavis and Butt-Head getting one,” said one Reddit user, while another added, “Lol these are unironically more MilSim than most skins in the game.” As absurd as it may seem, it’s in line with Call of Duty’s recent history of introducing over-the-top skins that spark debate on the game’s direction.
In typical Beavis and Butt-Head fashion, players are already imagining what the duo might say in the heat of battle. One comment that got plenty of attention was, “Heh heh heh heh, he said ‘Duty.’” These types of references are exactly what made Beavis and Butt-Head so iconic, and their addition to Call of Duty feels like the perfect comedic fit.
But while the jokes roll in, some players aren’t thrilled by the constant addition of bizarre skins. With Activision’s aggressive monetization strategies, including pricey bundles, event passes, and controversial in-game ads, many fans are questioning the direction of the franchise. Some are even speculating that Beavis and Butt-Head’s appearance could be a sign that Call of Duty has hit rock bottom. However, as long as these skins keep selling, Activision will likely keep pushing out new ones.
One concern that has emerged among the community is the pricing of these skins. Given the outrage over expensive in-game bundles and the launch of Black Ops 7, players are hoping that the Beavis and Butt-Head skin won’t come with an outrageous price tag. It’s unclear whether these skins will carry forward into Black Ops 7, but players are already speculating that those who buy them in Black Ops 6 will want to get their money’s worth.
