Google’s AI Mode, a highly anticipated search feature, has finally gone global, starting with its rollout in India.
Originally announced in March, the AI Mode was first made available exclusively in the United States. Now, the company is expanding this feature worldwide, beginning with the Indian market.
AI Mode brings more sophisticated capabilities than its predecessor, the AI Overviews. Powered by Google’s Gemini 2.5, it introduces advanced reasoning techniques. One of the standout features is its fan-out method, which breaks your query into smaller subtopics, querying them separately to provide a comprehensive answer. The results are further enriched with links to the sources used to generate the response, adding transparency to the process.
This tool also supports more complex queries, handling 2-3x longer prompts compared to traditional search. You can now use voice input to interact with the system, making it more versatile. The multimodal functionality allows users to insert images into their search queries using Google Lens, expanding the range of input options.
Available for both Android and iOS devices, the AI Mode is easily accessible via a shortcut in the regular Google search bar. Whether you’re using the web or mobile app, activating this feature gives you an enhanced, intuitive search experience like never before.
