The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is starting to emerge in leaks and rumors, and with it comes an interesting change. The latest tip from X user @PandaFlashPro suggests that Samsung may remove the S Pen digitizer, replacing it with Qi2 magnetic tech. 
If true, this would mark a significant shift for the Ultra lineup, which has always included the S Pen digitizer for precise input.
Why the change? For starters, removing the digitizer could create more space inside the device for other features or improved modules. The rumored shift could also align with Samsung’s goal to make the S26 Ultra fully compatible with Qi2, the latest wireless charging and magnetic accessory standard. Currently, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is Qi2 ready but lacks internal magnets, unlike the iPhone 15. By integrating Qi2, the S26 Ultra would be able to support magnetic accessories like Apple’s MagSafe.
Another reason behind this potential removal could be the pursuit of a thinner device. As seen with Samsung’s rumored Galaxy Z Fold 7, removing components like the S Pen digitizer could help achieve a sleek and slim profile
. However, achieving the thinness fans expect might require more than just removing the digitizer.
Despite these changes, there’s still hope for the S Pen. While the digitizer may be gone, it’s possible the S26 Ultra will feature a redesigned S Pen, similar to what’s rumored for the upcoming Z Fold 7. The Z Fold 7 is set to be revealed soon, and it could offer a glimpse into what’s next for Samsung’s stylus technology.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to be Samsung’s flagship for 2026, likely launching in early 2026. Alongside it, the Galaxy S26 Edge is also anticipated, with rumors pointing to more RAM and enhanced specs.
