Xiaomi is venturing into the tablet market with a new, larger, and more powerful device, the Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro 12.5. Hot on the heels of its custom Xring O1 chipset launch in the Xiaomi 15S Pro, the company is bringing its in-house silicon to the tablet arena.
The Pad 7S Pro 12.5 is the first to feature Xiaomi’s Xring O1 chipset, and it comes with a host of upgrades that go beyond just the new chip.
Enhanced Display and Design
The Pad 7S Pro sports a larger 12.5-inch LCD display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi claims that this size strikes the perfect balance between portability and productivity when compared to the smaller 11-inch and larger 14-inch tablets on the market. Despite the increase in display size, the tablet has become thinner than its predecessor, the Pad 7 Pro, now measuring just 5.8mm in thickness compared to the 6.2mm of the earlier model. While the weight has increased slightly to 576g (from 500g), this is compensated by a bigger battery and enhanced hardware.
Immersive Audio and Video
The media experience is a significant focus for Xiaomi with this model. The Pad 7S Pro now boasts six speakers, up from four, and supports Dolby Atmos, which pairs perfectly with the larger screen for an elevated video and gaming experience. The 144Hz refresh rate enhances the viewing experience, making the device a great option for media enthusiasts.
Fast Charging and Extended Battery Life
Battery life and charging have received a substantial upgrade. The Pad 7S Pro is equipped with a massive 10,610 mAh battery, up from 8,850 mAh in the Pad 7 Pro. Fast charging is another standout feature, with the device supporting Xiaomi’s rapid 120W wired charging, almost doubling the 67W charging speed of its predecessor.
Focus on Productivity
Xiaomi has clearly designed the Pad 7S Pro to be a serious productivity device. It comes with a new magnetic keyboard case that offers a fully adjustable hinge for a comfortable typing experience. The tablet ships with an updated version of WPS Office pre-installed and supports productivity apps like ZWCAD (for DWG files) and CAJViewer (for document conversion and markup). The Pad 7S Pro also offers advanced cross-device functionality, allowing users to wirelessly mirror its screen to a PC with minimal 41ms latency, share a keyboard and mouse, and easily transfer files between Android, Windows, and macOS systems.
Pricing and Availability
The Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro 12.5 is currently available in China, with prices starting at CNY 3,300 (approximately $460) for the base 8GB RAM/256GB storage model. Higher-end configurations with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage are also available. A magnetic keyboard accessory costs CNY 1,000 ($140), and a matte “Soft Light” screen protector is priced at CNY 200 ($30). While global availability has yet to be announced, if the Pad 7S Pro makes its way beyond China, it could become a formidable competitor to devices like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 and Apple iPad Pro.
