Capcom is gearing up for the release of the second free title update for Monster Hunter: Wilds, set to drop on June 30. Fans of the series have been eagerly awaiting the return of the iconic Lagiacrus, a creature originally introduced in Monster Hunter Tri. Known for its fierce underwater combat and its rivalry with the fearsome Rathalos, Lagiacrus is finally making its way back to the game.
Although underwater combat is not featured prominently in Wilds (as players can’t swim), the fight will still feature some underwater elements, adding a fresh twist to this classic encounter.
Alongside Lagiacrus, players will also face Seregios, a returning monster from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. This update isn’t just about new monsters; it introduces some highly requested features too. Players can now enjoy layered weapons, enhanced photo mode settings, and the ability to swap handlers during hunts. The update also brings a collaboration gesture featuring a Fender guitar, a fresh set of free gestures, and new paid cosmetic items, adding more ways for players to personalize their experience. Additionally, the update will add various new rewards and equipment for hunters to acquire.
On July 23, the seasonal event “Festival of Accord: Flamefete” will kick off, running until August 6. This event promises limited-time equipment and other special perks for participants. The excitement doesn’t end there, though. On July 30, players will face a new Arch-tempered monster, Uth Duna, with a challenge quest and stunning new equipment rewards that are sure to turn heads.
Monster Hunter: Wilds was given an 8 in our launch review, where we noted that the game smooths out the rough edges of previous titles, offering exciting combat but lacking in overall challenge. Despite some early criticism about the endgame, the upcoming updates show Capcom’s commitment to keeping things fresh and engaging for players. The update on June 30 will be free for all owners of the game, so be sure to log in and enjoy the new content!
