It’s about time! Google Clock’s latest version, 7.14, is finally rolling out, bringing a fresh update along with some changes to Pixel Weather features. Google Clock is one of the most used native apps on Android, with almost every Android phone featuring it for setting timers and alarms. While it may not be used for long periods, it’s definitely something most users access multiple times a day. The new update makes it easier to manage your timers, especially with the Timer Starter widget, which is exclusive to Pixel devices for now.
The Timer Starter widget was initially introduced on the Pixel Tablet and has now been added to Pixel phones.
This widget displays the last three timers you’ve set, along with a “+” button for quickly adding a new timer. To add this widget to your Pixel’s home screen, long-press on an empty space and tap on “Widgets” in the pop-up. Then, scroll down and select “Clock,” followed by “Timer Starter.” Tap on it, and you’ll see the “+Add” button. Once you press it, the widget will be placed on your home screen for faster timer management, saving you the trouble of setting one up with your voice.
Version 7.14 also brings some visual upgrades, including the introduction of Material 3 switches in the Alarm tab and Settings menu. Another subtle but noticeable change is the update to the weather icons in the Clock tab
. Whether it’s your home time zone or the countries you follow, the weather condition icons are now displayed in gray instead of their previous colors. While the new design may not stand out as much, it’s less distracting overall.
If you’re not seeing this update yet, head to your Settings > Apps > See all apps > Clock to check the version. If it’s below 7.14, you can easily delete the app and reinstall the latest version from the Play Store using the provided link.
