The newly unveiled Xiaomi Mix Flip 2, available for pre-order in China, is set to challenge the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 with its innovative design and robust features. Real-world images shared by Digital Chat Station on Weibo give a glimpse of Xiaomi’s progress in the foldable market. These images highlight a design with a remarkably shallow crease-something that many users have criticized in previous foldables, making this device more appealing to those who were put off by creases in the past.

Powering the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 is the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is also found in the Galaxy S25 series.

This is complemented by a substantial 5165 mAh battery, which is larger than what you typically see in flagship phones, especially foldables, giving it a notable advantage. The Flip 2 also boasts impressive charging capabilities, offering 50W wireless charging and 67W wired charging-far outpacing the Flip 7’s expected 25W wired charging.

In terms of design, Xiaomi has kept many elements from the first Mix Flip, including the external camera setup. Samsung is also moving towards this design with the Galaxy Z Flip 7, removing the bulky camera cutout. This camera style will now be featured on the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE instead.

When comparing the Mix Flip 2 and the Flip 7, it’s clear that Xiaomi’s device is giving Samsung’s flagship a run for its money. With a more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a larger battery, and faster charging speeds, the Mix Flip 2 is making a strong case for those in the market for the latest foldable. However, Samsung’s commitment to long-term software support and the beloved One UI experience means that the Flip 7 still has its advantages, particularly for loyal Samsung users. In the end, it all boils down to individual preferences, though the Mix Flip 2’s global launch can’t come soon enough.

Gotta admit, the Mix Flip 2’s battery is a game changer! But will it be as durable as Samsung’s foldables??
