GIGABYTE has introduced a new BIOS-level utility aimed at boosting the performance of Intel’s Core Ultra Series 2 processors, which are part of Intel’s Arrow Lake-S lineup. This feature, dubbed ‘Ultra Turbo Mode,’ is designed to enhance gaming performance by up to 35% when paired with GIGABYTE’s Z890 motherboards. While the company claims impressive results, including up to 68% better performance in AIDA64 memory benchmarks and significantly higher frame rates in games like Hitman 3: Dartmoor, the details are somewhat vague, and skepticism is warranted regarding these figures. 
However, Ultra Turbo Mode does offer real benefits through various memory and CPU optimizations.
The Ultra Turbo Mode comes with three profiles: LV2 Turbo Intel 200S Boost, LV2 Turbo Mode, and LV3 Extreme Mode. The first, based on Intel’s existing 200S Boost, optimizes Fabric, Die-to-Die, and DDR5 memory clocks. The second enhances CPU and memory parameters, while the third, the LV3 Extreme Mode, promises to unlock the full potential of the hardware by potentially tweaking power management and workload allocation. While specific details about LV3 are limited, it’s expected to maximize performance under demanding conditions.
GIGABYTE’s Ultra Turbo Mode is available across all Z890 motherboards, with the latest BIOS update soon to be released, offering a potential performance boost without the need for additional hardware upgrades. While early results may sound impressive, it’s crucial to approach the company’s claims with caution. As always, actual gaming performance improvements may vary based on system configuration and workloads.
