YouTube is rolling out new AI-driven features to both Premium and free users. Just like Meta and Microsoft, Google is adding artificial intelligence capabilities to its services and apps.
Some of these additions are quite useful, while others see limited use despite the popularity of these apps.
YouTube is no stranger to implementing AI features, and this week’s update introduces two new AI-powered tools for users in the United States. One feature is exclusive to Premium subscribers, while the other will be available to all users, regardless of their membership status.
If you’re a Premium user, you now have access to a new AI-powered search results carousel. This feature recommends videos and creator-driven topics related to your search queries. Initially, the carousel will only appear on searches tied to shopping, travel, or activities in specific locations. Currently, this feature is only available to Premium users in the United States. To participate in the experimental program and explore these new features, visit YouTube’s dedicated website.
Alongside the search results carousel, YouTube is also introducing a conversational AI tool to some non-Premium users in the US. The details regarding the number of users receiving this feature remain unclear. However, if you’re outside the US, it doesn’t matter, as the feature is limited to US-based users for now.
YouTube’s conversational AI, which was previously available only to Premium users, has been a major step in bringing more AI-powered tools to all users. Designed to respond to questions and recommend related content without interrupting playback, this tool is currently only available in English. Initially, it was limited to YouTube users on Android, but now, the feature is expanding in waves. As part of a test phase, the feature is still in beta, and access is limited to select users.
