Yet another leak is fueling the growing anticipation for Apple’s next big thing. According to fresh rumors from China, the base model of the upcoming iPhone 17 is expected to feature a 6.3-inch display – a noticeable upgrade from the iPhone 16’s 6.1-inch screen. The tip comes from reputable leaker Digital Chat Station, who posted the info on Weibo and has a history of accurate Apple predictions.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the size bump. 
In fact, last month, Ross Young, a VP at Counterpoint Research, also hinted that the iPhone 17 would come with a 6.3-inch screen. With multiple credible sources now backing this detail, it’s looking increasingly likely that Apple is making a size adjustment to its standard iPhone lineup.

Specs-wise, the base iPhone 17 is expected to retain the A18 chip and 8GB of RAM, but rumors suggest it will finally receive a 120Hz refresh rate display and a much-improved 24MP front-facing camera. Both would be welcome upgrades over the iPhone 16’s 60Hz screen and 12MP selfie shooter.
The star of the show could be the new iPhone 17 Air – a potentially ultra-thin device that might go head-to-head with Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge. Meanwhile, the Pro and Pro Max versions are also expected to get notable upgrades and possibly a fresh design.
With rivals like the Galaxy S25 and the anticipated Pixel 10 in the mix, Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup will need to impress. Still, that 6.3-inch display on the base model may hit the sweet spot for many users who want performance and screen space without the Pro-level bells and whistles.
