ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 OC has officially shattered the Port Royal world record, setting a new benchmark of 47,375 points. 
The feat was achieved by legendary overclocker Splave, who paired the GPU with extreme liquid nitrogen (LN2) cooling to push performance beyond limits.
This new record surpasses the previous 47,196 mark held by OGS by nearly 200 points. Splave’s configuration achieved an astonishing 219.33 FPS in the benchmark, which is around 31% higher than the average RTX 5090 score of 36,000. That’s a leap not often seen, even across generational GPU upgrades.
ASUS took the opportunity to flex their design, promoting the Astral card’s robust cooling and higher factory clocks. Out of the box, the GPU runs at 2610 MHz, but Splave managed to push it to 3007 MHz during the test
. While other record attempts have clocked closer to 3.5 GHz, this run was enough to take the crown.
Interestingly, his HWBot submission didn’t display real-time clocks, leading to some speculation, but screenshots show the 3007 MHz boost. The system used the powerful Intel Core i9-14900KS, further fueling debates about CPU pairings in GPU record runs. Attempts to use AMD’s 9800X3D allegedly ended in disaster, with one commenter humorously claiming it “burnt to death.”
Despite the technical wizardry, these records remain a niche pursuit-not something the average gamer should attempt. It’s a world of chilled nitrogen, BIOS tweaking, and high-stakes hardware. Splave’s reign might not last long, but for now, the throne belongs to the Astral RTX 5090 OC.
