Google is quietly refining the Play Store experience with a new notification layout for app downloads.
Google Play Store Gets Smarter Download Notifications
In the latest version, 46.8.29-31, the download progress notifications are getting a small but smart redesign, based on findings from an APK teardown.

The updated notification still shows up to three downloading or recently installed apps, but instead of the old “See more” button, users will now see a summary stating how many additional apps have recently been installed. This improves clarity and reduces the need to jump back into the Play Store to check your download history.

Previously, some users experienced confusing messages like “0% of 0MB” even after apps were downloaded. That has now been replaced with a simple and clear “Recently installed” label. Additionally, the “Open” button finally works as expected-once an app is opened from the notification, it vanishes from the list to keep things tidy.

While these tweaks may seem minor, they show Google’s continued effort to polish Android’s day-to-day usability. This isn’t a revolutionary overhaul, but it’s a thoughtful improvement for users who frequently download or update apps.

As of now, the redesigned notification is not widely available and may still be in testing. APK teardowns often reveal features that are in development or may change before the final release, but this particular enhancement seems nearly complete.

These small enhancements often go unnoticed, yet they make a real difference over time. Keeping track of what you’ve downloaded without extra taps is a welcome change-especially for those of us juggling dozens of app updates regularly.
