This year, Samsung is bringing an affordable foldable phone to the market, and it’s expected to make waves. Samsung enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the Galaxy Unpacked event set for the 9th of this month, where not only the highly anticipated Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 will make their appearance, but also the budget-friendly Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. This new foldable has been confirmed through a series of accidental listings from accessory brand Spigen, which briefly showcased cases for the device before quickly removing them. Android Central spotted these listings and even managed to capture screenshots before they disappeared, adding further credibility to the rumors.

It’s now all but certain that the Z Flip 7 FE will be unveiled alongside the flagship Flip 7 and Fold 7 models in just a few days.

The inclusion of the ‘FE’ in its name suggests that this could be the start of an annual tradition, signaling more budget-friendly foldables to come in the future.

Recent leaked renders for the Flip 7 have shown the FE variant, revealing that the Flip series will ditch the camera cutout, offering more screen space instead. While the FE model will bear similarities to the Galaxy Z Flip 6, it’s expected to feature a more powerful chip, possibly making it a repackaged version of an older model with a few upgrades.

If early reports are accurate, the Flip 7 FE will be priced around $736, depending on tariffs in the U.S. It will run on Samsung’s 3nm Exynos 2500 chip, which was delayed for the Galaxy S25 but will now make its debut in this foldable lineup. Meanwhile, the premium Fold 7 will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, offering faster performance and enhanced features. The Flip 7, despite sharing the same chip as the FE, will come with larger displays and better cameras.

If you’re willing to stretch your budget by an extra $100, the recently launched Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 is a worthy alternative. With its Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and larger battery, it’s a solid contender. However, if you prefer Samsung’s One UI and the promise of seven years of software updates, the Flip 7 FE is a great choice.

The foldable market has faced challenges, mainly due to the high prices of these devices. Thankfully, Samsung appears to recognize this and is stepping up to offer exciting foldables at a more accessible price point.
