The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 was expected to be the pinnacle of foldable phones in 2025, but recent developments have cast doubt on that. Initial reports indicated that the phone would address several common issues users had with earlier models, such as thickness, weight, camera quality, and screen size.
However, new rumors suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 might not support the S Pen, a feature that had previously set Samsung’s foldables apart from the competition.
Rumors have been swirling about the fate of the S Pen with the Galaxy Z Fold 7
. Early on, there were whispers that Samsung might ditch the digitizer layer to slim down the device. A more recent report raised concerns about production hurdles, suggesting that the phone could launch without support for the stylus.
This rumor was confirmed by Roland Quandt, a well-known leaker, who revealed that he couldn’t find any Galaxy Z Fold 7 cases designed to hold the S Pen. Unlike the Galaxy S Ultra models, which come with a built-in S Pen silo, Samsung’s foldables have never had this feature, which made the absence of a dedicated case for the S Pen even more perplexing.
Quandt also shared marketing images for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and notably, these images made no mention of the S Pen. This further suggests that Samsung has chosen to drop support for the stylus altogether.
For many power users, this could be a major disappointment, but others may be willing to overlook the missing S Pen support. The Fold 7 is rumored to be lighter, thinner, and larger than its predecessor, the Fold 6, with impressive specs like a 200MP main camera and a custom Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip. It will also feature a 10MP under-display camera, a noticeable improvement over previous models.
Additionally, Quandt has corroborated rumors of a price increase for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The 12/256GB version is expected to cost €2,099 (~$2,459.49), up from €2,002 (~$2,345.83), reflecting the high-end specifications of the device.
This news comes after Samsung’s decision earlier this year to remove Bluetooth functionality from the S Pen of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, a move that disappointed users who expected more advanced features from the stylus. While Samsung may not have intentionally removed S Pen support from the Z Fold 7, it seems the company is no longer prioritizing this accessory, as engagement with the S Pen appears to be lower than expected.
