Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Review: Great Design, But Is The Battery Enough?

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 has officially arrived, and it’s time to dig into what this new foldable brings to the table. While the unboxing experience might feel a bit predictable – with the standard SIM tool and USB-C cable – there’s something worth noting: during the pre-order period, the 512GB storage variant comes with the base price, which is a nice surprise. You can pick it up in Blue, Black, or Silver, and it will start shipping on July 25.

The real magic happens when you look at the device’s design.

Samsung has finally updated the cover screen with a more conventional 21:9 aspect ratio. Combined with a slimmer, lighter body, the Galaxy Z Fold7 feels a lot more like a regular smartphone when closed. This is something you’ll really need to experience in person, so head over to your nearest store and try holding it in your hands!

When opened, the Galaxy Z Fold7 offers a more expansive canvas than its predecessor. The difference is noticeable, especially when compared to the Galaxy Z Fold6. Unlike the vivo X Fold5, which has a glossy, rounded frame, the Z Fold7 opts for flat, matte sides that make it much easier to pry open the device.

If we’re talking about frames, check out this comparison to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Ultra is a bit thinner at 8.2mm, but the difference isn’t immediately obvious when you look at both phones side by side.

In terms of the camera, the Z Fold7 shares its main shooter with the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The 200MP camera offers outstanding performance with excellent dynamic range, vibrant colors, and impressive detail retention. It’s a noticeable upgrade from the Galaxy Z Fold6’s camera.

The ultrawide lens also gets an upgrade, now featuring autofocus – a nice touch for those who like to capture wide-angle shots in focus.

However, not everything is rosy. The Z Fold7 still uses the same 4,400mAh battery as the Z Fold6, and it only charges at 25 watts – a disappointing choice in 2025 when its competitors offer much faster charging. Regardless, there’s a lot to test with this device, and it’s now off to our expert team to dig deeper into its performance.

What’s the point of this phone? Feels like they just slapped on some new numbers and called it a day. 😕
