The iconic Scrubs revival is bringing back the beloved trio of JD, Turk, and Elliot! Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke have officially joined Zach Braff for the upcoming episodes, marking a heartwarming return of the core group. The revival has officially been greenlit by ABC, with a premiere expected in late 2025 or early 2026.
Scrubs Revival Brings Back JD, Turk, and Elliot for New Episodes
This is the first time in over a decade that Braff, Faison, and Chalke will be back together on screen, after their unforgettable roles as JD, Turk, and Elliot during the original series’ first eight seasons (2001-2009).

Though Scrubs had a rocky ninth season without most of the original cast, the strong friendship between JD and Turk, both on and off-screen, has kept the spirit of the show alive. The two stars even host a podcast together! In the new revival, JD and Turk are back to their old bromantic ways, navigating a changed medical world at Sacred Heart hospital. In a teaser released by ABC, the series teases, ‘JD & Turk scrub in together for the first time in a long time – medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way.’

One mystery remains-what’s the fate of Elliot? The blurb doesn’t mention her, though we know that in the original finale, Elliot was married to JD, and they were raising their child together. The revival will return to Sacred Heart, leaving open the possibility for other original characters to come back too. Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence is excited to bring the band back together as an executive producer, stating, ‘Scrubs means so very much to me, so excited for the chance to get the band back together.’

In true Scrubs fashion, Braff even posted an Instagram story singing the show’s theme song (‘I’m no Superman’) but with a twist-he replaced ‘Superman’ with ‘I need Sarah Chalke and Donald Faison.’ Now that’s life support for fans of the show!
