According to a recent YouTube video by Rebs Gaming, two sources with ties to the Halo developers confirmed that the remake will focus solely on the single-player campaign, with no word yet on the inclusion of multiplayer modes.

The remake, which began development in 2023, may launch exclusively for Xbox Series X and S, although there are whispers it could also make its debut on PlayStation 5. This would mirror the upcoming release of Gears of War Reloaded, marking the first appearance of another iconic Xbox franchise on Sony’s console.

In addition to the Halo Combat Evolved remake, Rebs Gaming touched on Project Ekur, a battle royale project once planned as part of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer. Now handed over to Certain Affinity, Project Ekur’s status is uncertain, but recent updates from Halo series dataminer grunt.api suggest ongoing work.

Though the Halo Combat Evolved remake remains unconfirmed, fans won’t have to wait long for clarity. Halo Studios is expected to reveal more at HaloWC 2025 in October, where we’ll hopefully get a glimpse into the future of this legendary franchise that has long defined Xbox gaming.
