Samsung’s long-rumored tri-fold smartphone will be arriving later this year, according to the company’s President, TM Roh. Despite the device’s absence from the recent Unpacked event, Roh confirmed that the tri-fold phone is very much still in the works and set for release by the end of 2025.
Fans are left wondering about the device’s name, as Samsung has yet to make a final decision. While some speculate it could be named the Galaxy G Fold, Samsung has not ruled out other options.
Right now, Samsung is focused on perfecting the product, including usability and design. Rumors suggest the device will feature a unique fold-in mechanism, setting it apart from the Huawei Mate XT’s outward folding screen. With two displays – the main folding screen and a cover display – Samsung’s tri-fold device will offer improved durability, as the folding screen will be protected when closed.
As exciting as this new foldable is, it will likely come with a hefty price tag, potentially even higher than the already expensive Galaxy Z Fold7. And as for those of us hoping for more affordable foldables, it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer before that dream becomes a reality.
