iPhone lovers, get ready – the iPhone 17 series is expected to be unveiled during the week of September 8, 2025, according to well-known Apple insider Mark Gurman. While Apple hasn’t confirmed the exact date, Gurman notes that Tuesday the 9th or Wednesday the 10th are the most likely contenders, as Apple traditionally avoids Friday events and the 11th for commemorative reasons.
The iPhone 17 lineup is shaping up to include four models: the standard iPhone 17, the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air, the high-end iPhone 17 Pro, and the powerhouse iPhone 17 Pro Max. 
Each version brings notable upgrades – from design and display size to chips and cameras.
Here’s what we know: the base iPhone 17 will sport a slightly larger 6.3-inch display (up from 6.1″), 8GB of RAM, and Apple’s new A19 chipset. The Air, Pro, and Pro Max models will be backed by 12GB of RAM and the more powerful A19 Pro chip, both produced using TSMC’s cutting-edge 3nm N3P process.
The camera game is being elevated too. The iPhone 17 and Air will come with a 48MP main camera and a 24MP selfie camera, but the Air will skip the ultra-wide sensor due to its slimmer body. The real showstoppers, however, are the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, which may feature three 48MP lenses – wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto – plus the same 24MP front camera.
Battery life is also getting a bump. The Pro Max could break Apple tradition by being the first iPhone with a massive 5000 mAh battery. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 is expected to carry a 3600 mAh cell, the Pro gets 3700 mAh, and the Air will have a more modest 2800 mAh due to space constraints.
Also, expect a refreshed rear camera layout – leaks suggest Apple might ditch the iconic square module for something new. All signs point to Apple shaking things up more than usual with this release.
