Why Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold is Worth the Hype

Google and Samsung have been raising expectations for the Pixel 10 series, and I’m here for it. As 2025 unfolds, some mobile tech enthusiasts might have already gotten the biggest announcements of the year out of the way, with the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition 7 stealing the spotlight. But let me tell you, the anticipation I once had for Samsung’s launches has shifted.
Why Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold is Worth the Hype
Now, my focus is entirely on the upcoming Pixel 10 series, which has me cautiously optimistic for a few key reasons.

The pricing is hitting the right notes. Sure, I thought for a brief moment that maybe the Pixel 10 series would bring a pleasant surprise by underpricing the Pixel 9 series, but let’s be real: the best-case scenario was always maintaining the same price points. That seems to be the trend, and you know what? I’m warming up to the idea of a $1,799 Pixel 10 Pro Fold, especially after Samsung slapped a ridiculous $1,999.99 price tag on the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s entry-level configuration.

Let’s not forget the $1,100 Galaxy S25 Edge, which makes the $999 Pixel 10 Pro sound like a bargain. And while the Pixel 10 Pro XL might cost a tad more than its predecessor, it’ll still be a deal compared to Samsung’s $1,400 Galaxy S25 Ultra. The regular Pixel 10? If it sticks to the rumored $799 price, it’ll be a steal, especially with Samsung getting dangerously close to that price with its Galaxy S25 FE.

But here’s the kicker: the Pixel 10 Pro Fold could be a total game-changer. This rumored book-style foldable is spec’d to have a 5,000mAh+ battery. Now, that may not sound impressive compared to some non-foldable flagships, but let’s talk about the competition. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a 4,400mAh battery, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold only managed 4,650mAh. Heck, even the OnePlus Open only has 4,805mAh. So yeah, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold could easily be the new battery king in the US.

Now, I know what you’re thinking – the Honor Magic V5 already has a massive 6,100mAh battery, but that’s a whole different beast. For us in the US, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold could finally give us the battery life we’ve all been hoping for. And get this – this foldable is also rumored to come with IP68 water and dust resistance, giving it the durability edge over rivals like the Z Fold 7. That’s a big deal.

While the Pixel 10 Pro Fold might not be as sleek as the Z Fold 7 in terms of thinness, its design could be just as refined as its predecessor, offering a larger battery without adding bulk. If Google pulls this off, it’ll be a masterstroke of engineering – maybe even more impressive than Samsung’s feat of making the Z Fold 7 4.2mm thin.

With all these exciting possibilities, it’s no wonder I’m eagerly awaiting Google’s August product launch event. Who’s with me?
