Samsung is gearing up to shake the foldable world once again with its first-ever tri-fold smartphone, possibly named the Galaxy Z TriFold.

The name itself was recently spotted in trademark filings in South Korea, hinting that the launch might be closer than we think.

Thanks to a leak from Samsung’s internal One UI 8 build (based on Android 16), we now know the chipset that will power this futuristic device: Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite-the same powerhouse used in the Galaxy Z Fold7. While some fans hoped for the newer 8 Gen 4 variant, Samsung appears to be playing it safe, perhaps due to cost or supply chain timing.

The TriFold is expected to have a massive inner display, around 10 inches when fully unfolded, and will include a cover screen for added flexibility. Unlike Huawei’s Mate X-style foldables, the Z TriFold will use a unique folding mechanism, further setting it apart in the ultra-premium segment.

But innovation comes at a price. The phone is rumored to cost around KRW 4 million (~$2,873 or €2,469), making it one of the most expensive mainstream phones ever. To add to the exclusivity, early reports suggest the device might be limited to Korea and China during the initial launch phase.

With cutting-edge hardware and an ambitious design, the Galaxy Z TriFold is shaping up to be one of the boldest smartphone experiments in recent memory-even if it skips out on the absolute latest chipset.
