Remedy is taking bold steps to address feedback and improve FBC: Firebreak after its launch in June. Following a somewhat rocky start, the developer has listened to the community’s concerns and outlined big changes for the future of this multiplayer spin-off of Control.
FBC: Firebreak’s Big Changes: Remedy’s Plan for a Better Experience
Remedy recently admitted that not everything had gone as planned with the game’s initial release, but they are committed to making the experience better. They have already released multiple patches aimed at fixing bugs and improving the gameplay based on player feedback.

Despite the early challenges, FBC: Firebreak has already hit a major milestone, topping over 1 million players. However, Remedy has recognized that many players were leaving the game within the first hour, a sign that the opening experience was not as engaging as it should be. This issue has been a point of focus, with Remedy planning to improve the onboarding process to better introduce new players to the game.

Remedy’s first step will be to improve the tutorial and narrative experience. New players will be treated to an introductory video that explains the universe of Control and their place in it. This will be followed by better tutorials, core mechanic explanations, and pop-up tips throughout the early stages. To avoid overwhelming newcomers, some of the more advanced features will remain hidden, encouraging players to discover them on their own. Remedy is also rebalancing the game’s gunplay, addressing feedback that weapons felt weak in the early stages. Players will now start with a fully functional and powerful version of their equipment, and a mod system is being developed to give players more customization options for their weapons.

Additionally, Remedy is working on a complete overhaul of the Job system. Instead of using the old Clearance and Corruption Levels, the team is introducing exciting new pre-made variations of Job experiences, offering both short and long missions filled with new challenges. The focus will be on eliminating the least fun experiences while refining and expanding on the best ones. A major focus of this update is also on improving matchmaking to ensure more balanced and enjoyable player matches.

While Remedy is focusing on these immediate improvements for the first major update, they’re also planning for future updates. They’ve confirmed that new Jobs will be added in 2025, and the ongoing updates will continue into 2026. All post-launch content, such as new missions, will be free, with players only having the option to purchase cosmetics that do not affect gameplay.

Despite mixed reviews and some complaints about the lack of content and depth, Remedy remains optimistic about the game’s future. With ongoing support and a clear plan for improvement, FBC: Firebreak may yet find its footing in the multiplayer shooter market, especially for those who enjoy co-op gameplay.
