The CPUs are now available across major retailers such as Amazon, Newegg, and B&H, with prices starting at $1,649 for the 16-core model and going up to $11,699 for the flagship 96-core model.

The Threadripper PRO 9000 WX series introduces significant upgrades over its predecessors, including higher clock speeds and architectural enhancements that boost overall performance. For example, the PRO 9995WX, priced at $11,699, boasts 96 cores and a base clock of 2.5 GHz with a boost of up to 5.4 GHz, along with a massive 384 MB of L3 cache and support for DDR5-6400 memory. This flagship model is particularly geared toward AI applications, where it delivers up to 495% more performance than Intel’s Xeon W9-3595X in specific tasks.

In early benchmarks, the Threadripper PRO 9995WX scored an impressive 173K in multi-threaded performance on Cinebench R23, and it maintains a solid 5 GHz clock speed across all 96 cores, allowing for even higher performance, with scores reaching 186K. This makes it one of the fastest workstation CPUs available today.

The complete lineup includes the following models:

  • Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9955WX (16 cores / 32 threads) – $1,649
  • Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9965WX (24 cores / 48 threads) – $2,899
  • Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9975WX (48 cores / 96 threads) – $4,099
  • Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9985WX (64 cores / 128 threads) – $7,999
  • Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX (96 cores / 192 threads) – $11,699

These processors are not only powerful but also support the latest technologies, including DDR5 memory and 8-channel memory support, which improves bandwidth and overall system responsiveness. However, with such high prices, the Threadripper PRO 9000 WX series is likely to attract a specific niche market.

Despite these impressive specifications, there has been some backlash from the community, with many calling the prices exorbitant, especially for the lower-core variants. Some suggest waiting for Intel’s Nova Lake release or questioning the value for money when comparing these processors to more affordable alternatives.
