Borderlands 4 Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in October, Almost a Month After Other Platforms
The highly anticipated Borderlands 4 is set to launch on September 12, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, but Nintendo Switch 2 owners will have to wait a little longer. Gearbox, the developers behind the series, announced today that the Switch 2 version will be released on October 3, 2025, nearly a month after the other platforms. This update was shared by Gearbox President Randy Pitchford in a video posted on X, where he humorously exaggerated the delay while reassuring fans.
“We promised the game would launch in 2025, and here we are with a solid date for the Nintendo Switch 2 version!” Pitchford said, injecting excitement into the announcement. “The date is October 3! Not next year, not even close to Christmas, it’s October 3!”
While some may feel disappointed by the delay, it gives Switch 2 players a chance to catch up with the news surrounding the game’s progress and its endgame features, which Gearbox has described as the “best in the series.” There’s also curiosity about how the game will perform on the Switch 2, considering the hardware limitations of the portable console. However, despite the delay, there is hope that the extra time will ensure a smooth release for the platform.
Although there’s no official word on whether the Switch 2 version will be priced differently, fans are crossing their fingers that it won’t spark another pricing controversy, as the game has faced issues with its pricing strategy in the past.
