Saber Interactive Announces Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival, A Survival-Horror Hellraiser Game
Last week, Saber Interactive teased a new horror game, and it didn’t take long for players to speculate it might be a Hellraiser title. Today, the mystery was solved as Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games unveiled Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival, a new survival horror game that’s headed to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
In an announcement via Xbox Wire, executive producer Nenad Tomic described the game as a “single-player, survival horror action game” with a “story-driven” experience. Players will take on the role of Aidan, who must save his girlfriend, Sunny, after she’s pulled into the clutches of Pinhead through a mysterious puzzle box known as the Genesis Configuration. The story follows Aidan’s attempts to rescue her from the labyrinthine horrors of Hell, potentially continuing from where the trailer leaves off.
Clive Barker, the mind behind The Hellbound Heart and the creator of the first Hellraiser film, has been deeply involved in the project, ensuring that the game stays true to the original essence of Hellraiser. According to Tomic, Barker has guided the creative process, from the visual design to the storyline and character development. Barker himself expressed his excitement about the project, saying, “Working on the first true Hellraiser game has been a venture deep into the recesses of my darkest imaginings. The dedication that Saber and Boss Team Games have shown is nothing short of remarkable. They’ve immersed themselves in the Hellraiser universe, capturing its essence-the seductive pull of suffering and the beauty within the grotesque.”
While the game borrows elements from the first two Hellraiser films, it presents a new story set within the Hellraiser universe. Fans will recognize familiar motifs, including the Genesis Configuration and the Cenobites, but this is not a direct continuation of the film narratives. The developers have promised more details later this year, and although there’s no official release date, we could expect Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival to land by late 2025, with a possible Halloween release to enhance the horror vibes.
