New Benchmarks of AMD’s Ryzen 9 9900X and Ryzen 7 9700X CPUs

In the latest benchmark leaks, Cinebench R23 performance of the AMD Ryzen 9 9900X and Ryzen 7 9700X “Zen 5” Desktop CPUs were shared. Let’s delve into the specifications of both chips:

Specifications:

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9900X: 12-core, 24-thread, base clock 4.4 GHz, boost clock up to 5.6 GHz, 76 MB cache, TDP of 120W.
  • AMD Ryzen 7 9700X: 8-core, 16-thread, base clock 3.8 GHz, boost clock up to 5.5 GHz, 40 MB cache, low TDP of 65W.

Performance:

In Cinebench R23 single-core tests, Ryzen 9 9900X scored 2232 points, and Ryzen 7 9700X scored 2280 points. In multi-core tests, Ryzen 9 9900X scored 32,216 points, while Ryzen 7 9700X scored 21,533 points. The performance comparison against other CPUs is shown in the following charts:

Cinebench Chart

It appears that single-core performance of the new Zen 5 architecture is strong, with 9900X showing an 11% lead over its predecessor and Ryzen 7 9700X leading by 14%. Furthermore, these CPUs offer superior single-core performance compared to Intel offerings.

Expected Improvements:

If results were at default TDPs, a potential 16% better performance on Ryzen 9 9900X and up to 11% faster performance on Ryzen 7 9700X with PBO enabled can be anticipated. The chips are expected to consume lower power and run cooler than the previous generation Zen 4 offerings.

Release Dates:

AMD’s Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” Desktop CPUs will launch in two waves, with Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X on the 8th of August, followed by Ryzen 9 9900X and Ryzen 9 9950X on the 15th of August.
