AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000WX series, which was previewed at Computex, is almost here! The premium workstation processors based on the new Zen 5 architecture are gearing up for release, and some retailers have already begun preparing for pre-orders. Although the official launch date has yet to be confirmed, B&H Photo Video has listed several models from the 9000WX family, with pre-orders expected to begin on July 23rd. This suggests that shipments could follow shortly after.
There are currently four SKUs visible on the retailer’s site:
- Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX: 96 cores, 128 threads
- Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9985WX: 64 cores, 128 threads
- Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9975WX: 32 cores, 64 threads
- Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9965WX: 24 cores, 48 threads
However, there are still two missing models: the 9955WX and 9945X, which may be released later. These new Threadripper processors offer impressive performance, especially in multi-threaded applications.
The Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX, for example, has already appeared in benchmarks showcasing competitive results in tasks like Cinebench, although pricing remains unclear. Early listings show the price for the 9995WX around $12,000, though it may be closer to $10,000 when officially announced.
AMD’s Threadripper PRO 9000WX series delivers a significant performance boost compared to the previous generation. AMD claims up to 16% faster performance in workstation apps and up to 25% faster performance in AI and machine learning tasks. The performance boost over Intel’s Xeon W9-3595X is also substantial, with some applications seeing anywhere from 22% to 92% improvements, depending on the specific task.
These processors are positioned as the ideal choice for professional workloads, particularly in AI-driven industries, with AMD emphasizing their ability to tackle heavy computational tasks with ease.
