Android’s Circle to Search feature just got a major upgrade! Google has added a super simple way for users to revisit their musical history.
Now, with just a few taps, you can explore your Song Search history right from your phone.
For those unfamiliar, Circle to Search is a feature that allows you to quickly access a search bar by long-pressing the Home button (if you use three-button navigation) or the navigation handle (for gesture navigation). The navigation handle is the thin horizontal line at the bottom of your screen.
When you long-press the handle, the Circle to Search bar pops up. Then, tap the musical note icon, and you’ll notice something new: a clock icon with an arrow wrapped around it in the top right. This is your “history” button. Tap it, and you’ll be taken to a page titled “Recent song searches.” This page displays the songs you’ve searched for in the current month, complete with cover art, the song’s name, the artist, and the exact time you searched.
If you’re feeling nostalgic, scroll down to check your search history for previous months. You can also tap on any song to view Google Search results, offering options like song overviews or lyrics. The “Recent song searches” page shows 10 songs per month, but don’t worry if you want to see more. Simply hit the “show full history” button at the bottom to unlock your entire song search history.
Although this feature is exclusive to Android for now, iPhone users can access their Song Search history via the Google app. Simply tap the microphone icon, click “Search a song,” and tap the clock icon in the top right to view your recent searches, broken down by month. Just like on Android, tapping a song shows you the search results for that track.
Whether you’re using Circle to Search on Android or the Google app on iOS or Android, you can now easily revisit your recent song searches. It’s a great way to rediscover your favorite tracks and explore your musical journey!
