Apple’s upcoming AirPods Pro 3 have been teased in the iOS 26 Developer Beta, which was released after the WWDC Keynote on Monday. The code discovered by Steve Moser, a MacRumors contributor, reveals that Apple is gearing up for the release of its next-generation wireless earbuds.
The new model could come with exciting health features, including the ability to track the user’s heart rate and temperature.
While there’s been talk of Apple potentially adding cameras to future AirPods, it’s unlikely that we’ll see a camera in the AirPods Pro 3, even if they launch this year. According to renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, major changes for the AirPods will likely wait until 2026. At that time, Apple is expected to introduce a version of the earbuds with an infrared camera similar to what’s used in Face ID. This new camera could enable gesture controls, allowing users to interact with the device through hand movements. It could also introduce a new AI experience that could provide contextual information about the environment, like details about a restaurant or a landmark you’re near.
Although we’re unlikely to see a camera in the AirPods Pro 3, the idea of visual intelligence in the future versions of the AirPods is still very intriguing. This could be a game-changer in how we interact with technology and could make the AirPods Pro 4, slated for 2028, a truly next-level product. For now, we’ll likely see the AirPods Pro 3 released this year without the camera, with Apple saving this major feature for later versions.
