Apple Delays M5 MacBook Pro and OLED MacBook Pro M6 Launch

Apple’s release schedule for the MacBook Pro lineup is undergoing significant delays, potentially pushing the debut of its highly anticipated OLED MacBook Pro with the M6 chip further into the future. Originally, Apple had planned to unveil the M5-powered MacBook Pro models later this year, but new reports suggest that the launch has now been pushed to early next year.

This shift could disrupt Apple’s usual yearly upgrade cycle, a move that might also affect the release of the OLED MacBook Pro with the M6 chip, expected to arrive later on.

According to a recent Bloomberg report by industry analyst Mark Gurman, Apple has no plans to release any Macs powered by the updated M5 chip this year. Instead, the M5 MacBook Pro and MacBook Air are expected to launch together in the Spring of 2026. This contradicts previous speculations that pointed to an end-of-year release for the M5 MacBook Pro. If true, this delay would mark a significant shift in Apple’s release patterns, as the company typically rolls out new MacBook Pro models in October.

Along with the M5 MacBook Pro, Apple was also expected to introduce the M5 iPad Pro models, which have already veered off their usual Spring launch window. However, the iPad Pro update might still happen in October, following the typical trend where Apple first announces its latest chips for the iPad Pro before bringing them to other devices like the MacBook Pro.

Looking ahead, Apple has a number of key devices lined up for early 2026. These include the M5 MacBook Pro models, a new entry-level iPad with a faster chip, and the M5 MacBook Air. Additionally, rumors suggest that Apple will introduce a new external monitor and the iPhone 17e, all in early 2026.

While the M5 MacBook Pro will only offer incremental upgrades, the M6 version of the MacBook Pro is expected to feature more significant changes. The M6-powered MacBook Pro will likely feature an OLED display, replacing the current miniLED screen, along with thinner bezels and possibly a lighter and thinner design overall. Analysts predict that the M6 MacBook Pro could be delayed until 2026, which would push the OLED MacBook Pro further into 2027, creating a substantial gap between the two releases.

As of now, there are few concrete details available about the OLED MacBook Pro’s exact release date, and supply chain reports are still silent. It’s important to take these early reports with a grain of salt, as things could change as new information comes to light. Stay tuned for updates as this story develops.
