Apple’s foldable iPhone, which is set to launch in late 2026, is making waves in the tech world. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-respected analyst, Apple is planning to release a highly anticipated foldable device soon.
Though details have been scarce, a new report sheds light on the progress Apple has made, specifically in terms of its production and component sourcing.
The first significant clue comes from Apple’s assembly supplier, Foxconn, which is expected to kick off production as early as Q3 2025 or Q4 2025. Mass production, however, is anticipated to begin in the second half of 2026. While some parts remain under development, such as the innovative ‘liquidmetal hinge,’ the display has already been finalized and is set to be sourced from Samsung Display. This gives us a clear idea of the foldable iPhone’s potential design and features.
According to Kuo, Apple has placed an order for 7-8 million foldable panels, and production targets are set between 15 and 20 million units over the next 2-3 years. This suggests that Apple is aiming to meet the long-term demand for the foldable iPhone, although it’s unlikely to sell that many units in just 2026 due to the premium price tag. The foldable iPhone is expected to come with an impressive design and cutting-edge technology, but how well it will be received by the market remains to be seen. Will Apple’s gamble on foldable tech pay off, or will it join the ranks of the numerous high-end devices that failed to capture the masses? Time will tell.
