Leaked Apple Mac Identifiers Reveal M5 and M6 Macs, OLED Upgrades, and an A18 Pro Surprise

Apple is preparing a sweeping refresh of its Mac lineup, with leaked identifiers revealing multiple upcoming models powered by the next-generation M5 and M6 chips.

The data hints at a broad upgrade strategy involving MacBook Pros, iMacs, Mac minis, Mac Studios, and even a mysterious A18 Pro-powered MacBook.

The highly anticipated M5-powered MacBook Pro models are expected to drop later this year, likely in October or November. These include 14-inch and 16-inch variants with M5, M5 Pro, and M5 Max chip options, maintaining the same chassis design as their M4 predecessors but promising notable performance and efficiency boosts.

In addition to MacBook Pros, Apple appears set to release M5-powered iMacs and Mac minis alongside the laptops. Meanwhile, the MacBook Air and Mac Studio with M5 chips are reportedly scheduled for 2025. The high-end Mac Pro remains under development, with a potential launch as far out as 2027, though timelines remain speculative.

Even more intriguing is the reference to a MacBook with an A18 Pro chip-codenamed J700-suggesting Apple might be working on a budget-friendly MacBook using the same chip as the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro series. While details are scarce, this could mark a major strategic shift in Apple’s hardware segmentation.

Looking ahead to 2025, the M6 MacBook Pro models could debut with OLED displays, a significant upgrade from current miniLED panels. Alongside the visual upgrade, the new design may feature slimmer bezels and a thinner profile, enhancing portability and aesthetics.

Here’s a breakdown of the leaked model identifiers:

  • J714s/c – MacBook Pro 14″ (M5 Pro/Max)
  • J716s/c – MacBook Pro 16″ (M5 Pro/Max)
  • K114s/c – MacBook Pro 14″ (M6 Pro/Max)
  • K116s/c – MacBook Pro 16″ (M6 Pro/Max)
  • J813/815 – MacBook Air 15″/13″ (M5)
  • J873s – Mac mini (M5 Pro)
  • J833ct – iMac (M5)
  • J775c/d – Mac Studio (M5 variants)
  • J704/J804 – Mac Pro (in development)
  • J700 – Possible A18 Pro MacBook

While none of these devices have been officially confirmed, the volume and specificity of identifiers suggest that Apple is preparing for one of its largest Mac rollouts yet. Stay tuned as we monitor the leaks and reports coming from the supply chain.
