Is Assassin’s Creed: Shadows Heading to Nintendo Switch 2?

Assassin’s Creed: Shadows could be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2, and Ubisoft executives might have just confirmed it.

During a recent quarterly earnings call, CEO Yves Guillemot and CFO Frederick Duguet dropped several subtle hints that strongly suggest a Switch 2 release for the game is on the horizon this fiscal year.

First, Duguet mentioned that Ubisoft’s line-up for the current fiscal year, which ends in March 2026, includes “a couple of other titles” that will be “announced at a later stage.” Later in the call, in response to an investor’s question, he stated, “And we also have a game that will be launched on the Switch 2.” While we already know Star Wars: Outlaws is coming to the Switch 2, this comment implies that another title is also in the works.

Then, Guillemot added more fuel to the fire. In a separate conversation with another investor about Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, he said, “And we have also some new versions that will come on other machines.” Currently, the game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Mac, and cloud services like GeForce Now and Amazon Luna. While Guillemot could have been referring to other platforms, such as PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, the most likely candidate is the Nintendo Switch 2, especially when you consider Duguet’s earlier comment.

The growing speculation was further fueled by an investor’s direct question about Assassin’s Creed: Shadows being released on Switch 2, to which Duguet responded by dodging the question, saying, “We haven’t said which other games will come on the console for that coming year.” The icing on the cake was the earlier PEGI rating for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows on Switch 2, which, while possibly an error, adds more weight to the theory that the game is indeed coming to Nintendo’s next-gen console.

Assassin’s Creed: Shadows has already garnered praise for its open-world gameplay and improvements to the series’ formula. Our reviewer, who gave the game an 8/10, said, “By sharpening the edges of its existing systems, Assassin’s Creed Shadows creates one of the best versions of the open-world style it’s been honing for the last decade.” With all the evidence stacking up, it’s looking increasingly likely that Assassin’s Creed: Shadows will make its way to the Switch 2 soon.
