Ubisoft Drops Assassin’s Creed Shadows Update: New Game Plus, Level Cap Boost, and Claws of Awaji DLC Dated
Ubisoft just rolled out a major summer roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and there’s a lot to unpack. The fan-favorite New Game Plus mode is officially arriving on July 29, 2025, alongside a higher level cap and fresh content drops. Players can soon extend their journey through feudal Japan with added challenge and customization.
The update will push the level cap from 60 to 80, introduce new Animus-themed collectibles, and kick off something dubbed Project 3
. If you’ve completed the story, New Game Plus will be unlocked-bringing all your existing gear, skill points, character level, and hideout progress into the new run. However, you’ll be starting fresh in terms of discovered locations, objectives, and storyboards.
In August 2025, another update will deliver long-requested quality of life improvements. For example, synchronizing all viewpoints will now unfog the entire map. PC players will also benefit from uncapped framerates in cutscenes, eliminating the jarring visual shifts between gameplay and cinematics.
Ubisoft also announced a Reddit AMA on August 12, where developers will take direct questions and feedback from fans. This shows a promising step toward better community engagement.
Mark your calendars for September 16, 2025-that’s when the much-anticipated Claws of Awaji DLC officially launches. Along with the new story content, players can expect real-time day/night switching, new equipment rarities, and expanded gear options to enhance your stealth and combat builds.
Lastly, Ubisoft revealed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows has surpassed 5 million players since launch, a huge milestone even as some of its other franchises, like Rainbow Six Siege, struggle to keep pace.
