Wizards of the Coast has just revealed an exciting new collaboration between Magic: The Gathering (MTG) and Avatar: The Last Airbender, giving fans a glimpse of the upcoming set at MagicCon Las Vegas 2025. 
This sneak peek introduced us to two powerful new cards, Avatar Aang and Aang, Master of Elements, and both promise to bring unique abilities to the MTG universe.
At the center of the reveal was a time-lapse video showcasing the creation of the beautiful, hand-drawn art for these cards. First up is Avatar Aang, a Legendary Creature – Human Avatar Ally. The card’s ability reads, ‘Whenever you waterbend, earthbend, firebend, or airbend, draw a card. Then, if you’ve done all four this turn, transform Avatar Aang.’ This mechanic highlights Aang’s ability to master all four elements, which is perfect for any fan of the show.
The second card, Aang, Master of Elements, shows Aang in his all-powerful Avatar state, ready to take control of his abilities in a new way. This Legendary Creature – Avatar Ally card has an exciting ability: ‘At the beginning of each upkeep, you may transform Aang, Master of Elements. If you do, you gain 4 life, draw four cards, put four +1/+1 counters on him, and he deals 4 damage to each opponent.’ It’s a game-changer for those looking for a versatile and powerful deck.
The full collaboration set will drop on November 21, 2025, but fans can expect a deeper dive into the details on August 12, 2025. With this being just one of the big crossovers in MTG’s history-after the successful Final Fantasy collaboration-Magic players are in for an exciting year. The recent Final Fantasy set caused quite a stir, with cards like Cloud and Sephiroth seeing price hikes due to their popularity.
