Avengers: Doomsday Will Feature the Baxter Building and Multiverse Chaos

Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday is stirring up a lot of excitement, especially with the confirmation that the iconic Baxter Building from the Fantastic Four films will make a return. Kevin Feige, Marvel’s mastermind, recently teased that the Baxter Building’s living room and kitchen would be central to the plot, with some intriguing changes.

Feige mentioned that the set, built for Fantastic Four: First Steps, is being used once again in the Avengers movie, and it’s safe to say that the space will feel more crowded in Doosmday. ‘A lot more people in that kitchen,’ Feige said, hinting at some major crossover moments.

The return of the Baxter Building opens up speculation on the fate of the Fantastic Four universe. Feige alluded to the concept of ‘incursions’-the destructive merging of multiverse realities-as part of the storyline. For fans of the comics, this is a key concept that could explain the overlap between universes. In Avengers: Doomsday, we may see Avengers characters travel to the Fantastic Four‘s Earth, possibly because of an incursion. Could the Fantastic Four’s journey to the MCU’s main reality cause the multiverse to collide? Or are they rushing to stop the damage before it happens?

Feige’s comments also suggest that the Fantastic Four universe is not destroyed by Galactus, despite earlier trailers hinting that Earth was on the brink of collapse. Fans were quick to point out that Feige’s use of the term ‘incursions’ implies that the Fantastic Four universe survives in some form. The Baxter Building’s survival may be a key indication of this, with the building likely still standing after the destructive events involving Galactus.

However, not all fans are convinced. Some have speculated that the Baxter Building seen in Avengers: Doomsday could be a different version, possibly related to the rocket ship seen in Thunderbolts. This theory suggests that the Baxter Building might actually be the second ship the Fantastic Four use to escape Galactus, with a slight design difference in the pylons of the rocket. Could this mean the Fantastic Four universe has been completely wiped out, and the building seen in the new film is something else entirely?

Feige’s tease about ‘Secret Wars’ also points to some exciting changes in the MCU. With multiple versions of the Fantastic Four and X-Men set to collide, the movie promises to shake up the MCU’s multiverse in ways we’ve never seen before. As Feige hinted, the MCU is poised for a major reset after the events of ‘Secret Wars,’ which will pave the way for new storylines and fresh takes on classic characters. This new era will include the recasting of the X-Men and potentially a new version of the Fantastic Four as well.

How can the Baxter Building sets be 'now-iconic' when the movie in question hasn't even been released yet?
