Beat Saber, the flagship VR rhythm game by Beat Games, is ending support for its PlayStation versions, signaling the end of a significant chapter for the popular title. Starting June 18, 2025, no new content will be released for Beat Saber on PS4 and PS5 (PSVR and PS VR2).
Players can still enjoy everything they’ve already purchased, including songs, but any future updates, new tracks, or features will be exclusive to other platforms.
Lady Gaga’s ‘Abracadabra’ will be the last song to grace the Beat Saber library on PlayStation, marking a bittersweet end to an era of updates. Beat Games confirmed this decision with a statement shared on the Beat Saber X account, expressing their excitement for the next big leap in the game’s future. The developer emphasized their continued passion for virtual reality and their plans to bring exciting new developments to the franchise.
Despite the cessation of new content, PlayStation users can still enjoy multiplayer mode until January 21, 2026. After that, the multiplayer experience will be shut down for PS4 and PS5 players. While some are disappointed by this news, others speculate that the game’s transition away from PlayStation may be influenced by Meta (formerly Facebook), the parent company of Beat Games. With Meta pushing its own VR store, it seems likely that the studio’s focus will shift to its own platform.
For many VR enthusiasts, Beat Saber has been the standout game for every new VR headset release since 2018. It’s the game that many consider essential for VR owners, and its relatively recent arrival on PS VR2 in May 2023 was a highlight. However, the current state of PlayStation VR’s market presence, particularly the PS VR2’s struggles, may have influenced Beat Games’ decision. The news has raised concerns about the future of PlayStation VR, as Beat Saber’s exit could be seen as a blow to the console’s VR lineup.
