While other titles like The Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76 got their moments in the spotlight, Starfield was absent, leaving fans disappointed.
As Bethesda turns its attention to the upcoming Gamescom in August, the company has posted an update on Steam confirming that work is still underway on the game’s future.
In a brief but reassuring statement, Bethesda shared, “Looking ahead, we’re continuing work on future updates and will share more about the exciting things we have planned for Starfield in the coming months.” This statement accompanies the launch of Starfield Update 1.15.222, which is currently in beta form.
Fans are hoping that this means the long-awaited second Starfield expansion is still in the works. With the possibility of Starfield making its way to PlayStation 5, there is still hope for the game’s growth and future. The game, which launched in September 2023, was Bethesda’s first new IP in 25 years, but it hasn’t been as well received as their other massive franchises, such as Fallout and The Elder Scrolls. The studio has been facing some challenges, including major layoffs at Microsoft, which affected its London office and ZeniMax Online Studios, as well as the cancellation of its unannounced MMORPG.
