Borderlands 4 Pre-Orders Launch at $69.99-No $80 Sticker Shock

Borderlands 4 is officially up for pre-order-and no, it’s not launching at the dreaded $80 price tag. Set to release on September 12th for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and even GeForce NOW, the game will debut at a more reasonable $69.99 for the Standard Edition.

After some confusion stirred up by Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford, who hinted at an $80 starting price, fans were bracing for the worst.

But 2K and Gearbox confirmed the final pricing structure today, and while the base game dodged the $80 mark, the premium editions are another story.

The Deluxe Edition will go for $99.99 and includes the Bounty Pack Bundle-four DLCs with fresh regions, missions, and bosses; four Vault Cards; new gear, cosmetics, and vehicles; plus the flashy Firehawk’s Fury weapon skin. For the die-hard fans, the Super Deluxe Edition at $129.99 adds the Vault Hunter Pack, which introduces two brand-new Vault Hunters with their own stories, regions, and loot, along with additional ECHO-4 cosmetics.

While fans were relieved about the Standard Edition price, many aren’t exactly jumping to buy early. The general sentiment? Wait for the inevitable discount bundle, especially with Steam sales and backlogs being what they are. And considering Borderlands 3’s Ultimate Edition dropped to $20 not long after launch, it’s a tactic many plan to repeat.

Still, even among the groans about pricing and DLC fragmentation, some players are excited to dive back into Borderlands’ chaotic gunplay and fast-paced movement-if not its NPC dialogue or story arcs.
