Capy Castaway Trailer Revealed: A Cozy Puzzle Adventure Featuring a Capybara and Crow

Toronto-based Kitten Cup Studio has unveiled a brand-new trailer for their upcoming cozy narrative puzzle game, Capy Castaway, during the Women-Led Games 2025 Summer Showcase at Summer Game Fest. The game tells the heartwarming story of Capy, a capybara separated from their parents after a flood devastates their zoo home. As Capy regains consciousness, they are found by Corvi, a small crow, and the two form an unlikely bond to search for their way back home. The game’s narrative is inspired by a real-life event: the 2016 escape of Bonnie and Clyde, the famous capybaras from Toronto’s High Park Zoo. Kitten Cup Studio’s CEO and Creative Director, Saffron Bolduc-Chong, revealed that the game draws a lot of influence from their hometown of Toronto. Adding to the local flair, the soundtrack for Capy Castaway has been composed by Mark Sparling, the talented musician behind the 2019 indie hit A Short Hike. Sparling’s composition perfectly complements the whimsical, intuitive gameplay of the game. As Bolduc-Chong shares, ‘The game is filled with moments that make us smile, like when we decided it would be fun to stack yuzu on our heads, and it became a mechanic where you can stack 10 of them.’ Players can look forward to experiencing this endearing story and its playful mechanics, promising both heartfelt moments and whimsical fun.
