Carl Pei throws a playful jab at Sennheiser’s headphone design just days before the highly anticipated launch of Nothing’s first premium headphones. A Reddit post, which has since been deleted, allegedly showed Sennheiser mocking the design of Nothing’s upcoming Headphone (1). In response, Carl Pei, the CEO of Nothing, fired back with a witty remark on Twitter, saying, ‘Says the company whose headphones look like PC cooling fans.
I know because I’ve used my HD 650 for 10 years.’ The exchange adds a fun twist to the rivalry between the two brands as Nothing gears up for its big debut in the high-end headphone market.
Nothing’s Headphone (1) will be unveiled on July 1, alongside the Nothing Phone (3). This dual launch is expected to make waves, with the headphones priced around €300 (roughly $320), aiming to compete in the premium audio space. The Headphone (1) will be available in two color options: black and white. While details about the specifications and drivers are still under wraps, rumors suggest the headphones will include essential features such as active noise cancellation (ANC), a microphone, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm jack.
The design of the Headphone (1) continues Nothing’s signature retro-tech aesthetic, with oval black earcups and a transparent cassette tape-style accent. Regulatory filings from Taiwan, the UAE, Finland, and Malaysia reveal the model number B170, hinting at a global release. Furthermore, the headphones are expected to come with a 520mAh battery and 5W charging support, ensuring a solid performance for audiophiles on the go.
As the launch draws nearer, the anticipation for both the Headphone (1) and the Phone (3) continues to build. Fans of Nothing are eager to see if the company’s foray into the high-end audio market will match the innovative designs they’ve become known for in the smartphone world.
